WE NEED A WAVE OF CHANGE

Join us at Everybody's Theatre this Thurssday 26 July - 1pm to see this incrediable documentary about the destruction plastic is having on, not only our planets oceans and wildlife but how it effects us as humans.

Opunake HIgh School's sustainable group are holding a screening and would like to invite the public as well.

The first screening of this thought provoking documentary was held on Thursday 12 July and hosted by Fiona Young and Chris Fuller. There was a great turn out and all went away thinking "What can we do to begin the journey and stop using plastic in our lives".

Fiona and Chris and Katie Sinclair founder of Healthy Oceanz organised their own beach clean ups the very next Sunday, Katie at Opunake Beach (see her Facebook Page - Healthy Oceanz for the staggering results, Fiona and Chris organised their beach clean up at Manahi Beach. Their group collected a staggering half tonne of rubbish from this beach. See photos of the Manahi Beach clean up below.

New Surfboard Fence leading to the Beach

Opunake now has a beautiful new fence on Havelock Street thanks to the Egmont Arts Council. The old fence was replaced around December and once the materials needed to attach the donated surfboards to the fence arrived it was all go to start attaching the surfboards to the new fence. There is still some space for more boards if you would like to donate them for the fence. Call Rhonda Crawford at Turnheads Hair Salon 06 761 7466 in Opunake.
